We surpassed our goal by raising 0ver $16,000 from 60 donors. This will be put to good use on our many community-based outreach, education, and advocacy programs. Thanks to all who helped make it happen.
Placer People of Faith Together is offering a four session "Introduction to the PICO Organizing Model" for new leaders and those who have not yet attended the PICO National Leadership Training. The training will be in June and July on four Saturday afternoons as follows: June 6, June 13, July 11 and July 18. We will meet at Pioneer UMC, 1338 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603, across from the Old Auburn Courthouse. Our instructors are Rev. Carol Carter and Mr. Paul DeBaufer, PPOFT leaders who have attended PICO National Leadership Training. The four session class will meet each of these Saturdays from 9 AM to 11AM (Note: this is a time change) in Room 4, upstairs in the educational building next to the offstreat parking lot in back of the church. It is accessible through a driveway beside the church just past the church sign or by the alley next to Meat and Potatoes(formerly Latitudes) around the corner from the church.
This training is essential for those planning to attend PICO National Training this summer which will be in Los Altosat the Jesuit Retreat Center Jul 23 to 29, 2015. Registration is at the invitation of our Executive Director, Ed Morgado. Please speak to Ed if you are interested in this training week. In a classic organizing setting, basic trainings would take place in your congregations, within your Local Organizing Committee. IN PPOFT we have formed Organizing Committees around common issues more often than in our congregtions so all of us need to be "in training" to understand and make effective use our common organizing model. Please register by contacing me, Carol Carter, at this email address, carol4winds @hughes.net. There will not be a fee for this class as our instructors are volunteers. Is is, however, necessary to register immediately and to commit to attend all four sessions of the training.
The class outline is as follows:
June 6 What is PICO? What is the PICO Organizing Model?
June 13 Building powerful relationships: One to One's
July11Problems or Issues: Effective Research
July 18 Action that Changes Systems...Going Up the River!
I hope you can join us. Please email Carol to reserve your spot. Registrations will not be accepted at the door.
